On January 1st, 2012, I embarked on a passionate publicity stunt with a lofty goal: to help a non-profit organization expand statewide. By garnering press, attention and traffic to my blog, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that my self-confidence took a knocking some days. Here’s how I kept my confidence in check and here’s how you can, too.
FIND YOUR PASSION
via
Find your passion and affect change — in your life and {hopefully} in the lives of others.
Learn it. Know it. Enjoy it.
Be passionate.
ACCEPT COMPLIMENTS
via
We all do it. When receiving a compliment we give an eye roll, or an “Oh, this? I just threw it on when I rolled out of bed.” AS IF.
I take cues from my husband on this one. He — ever so simply and without fail — says “thank you” when he receives a compliment. How simple is that? Practice makes perfect, my friends. Let’s try it together.
GIVE COMPLIMENTS
via
It takes confidence to notice good things about others and tell them. A sincere compliment is a welcome boost to someone’s day. When was the last time you complimented a friend or stranger on a necklace, an article, a funny Facebook status? Give freely.
STAND UP STRAIGHT
via
I’ve long admired my cousin Julie’s posture. It’s probably not surprising that she is both confident and successful, and also loving. I used to attribute her posture to her dancing background, but now I know she stands tall because she is self-assured.
EAT HEALTHY
via
Confidence comes from within. Eat a good diet, and hold your well-being to a high standard.
STICK UP FOR YOURSELF
- Reader comment {Bangor Daily News article}
Don’t allow people to put you down. Ever. Call them out when they do, and let them know that their opinion is not held by everyone… and most of all not by you.
So, yoga12mom, please don’t word slap me for making money off my blog {it’s my job, btw} and please don’t tell me what my moral obligations are or are not.———Go confidently. Go passionately. XOXO
